Eagle Scout Composting Project

posted Aug 31, 2017, 5:20 PM by Andrew Spiesman
Troop 62 Boy Scout James Rodewald is working on an Eagle Scout project that will benefit St. Andrew. The seventeen year old Riverside Senior is going to be building a composting station to help us recycle plant based materials. Every month, our food pantry is blessed to be able to provide fresh fruits and vegetables (most at no cost) from the Cleveland Food Bank.  Sometimes the fresh fruits and veggies aren't so fresh. We sort through the boxes and discard the badly bruised or rotten items. In the past these items went in the trash, but with our new composting station, we'll be able to recycle these items turning them into nutrient-rich soil to use in our gardens at the church. Work on the project should be starting soon.
